Rias Gremory (リアス・グレモリー Riasu Guremorī) is the main female protagonist of the series; she revives Issei after he is killed by Raynare.[LN 1 afterword] A tall red-haired devil with a voluptuous body, she is a third-year top-ranking high school student at Kuoh; she is also the leader of the Occult Research Club, which is a front for her devil team, of which she is the King.[S1 ep 3] Known as the Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess (紅髪の滅殺姫 Benigami no Ruin Purinsesu) and the heiress to the Gremory family of devils, she goes to a normal high school where she does not have to flaunt her status.[S1 ep 5] Marchi, who also wrote the English anime adaptation script, says that Rias is a straightforward character who is not as sassy as the redheaded anime girls she sees in other shows.[2] Rias develops feelings for Issei over the course of the series. In the storyline where she is to be Riser Phoenix's fiancee, she resigns her Rating Game against him in order to save Issei;[S1 ep 11] however, after Issei subsequently defeats Riser, she kisses him and moves into his family's home.[S1 ep 12] She does not mind being intimate with Issei,[S2 ep 1] but gets upset when other girls want to steal him away.
